Father's Day fishing with the grandson... easy spot?

Taking my grandson out for Father's Day weekend. He's 8 and his attention span is about an hour so I need somewhere with a good chance of catching something, even if it's just bluegill off a dock. Shenango is great but a little much for a kid that age when the boats get going. Anywhere with easy bank or pier access where a kid can actually reel a few in? Sharon or anywhere reasonable. Just want him to have a good time and not get bored.

Take him to the pier area down at Shenango near the dam, or honestly the docks at Buhl Park pond are about as easy as it gets for a kid that age. Bluegill will hit a worm under a bobber all afternoon and he'll stay busy. Bring more bait than you think you need... when they're biting an 8 year old goes through it fast. He'll have a blast.

What a nice tradition to start with him, Jim. When ours were little the dock at the Buhl Park pond was the magic spot... the bluegill practically hand themselves over and that's about all an 8 year old needs to be thrilled. Pack more snacks than you think you'll need and you'll get your hour out of him. Hope you both have a wonderful Father's Day.
